Were you able to attend the Latin America High Performance Computing Conference last week in Kingston, Jamaica? If not, we have a firsthand report from Intersect360 Research CEO, Addison Snell and Carlos Jaime Barrios Hernandez who is on the SCALAC organizing committee for CARLA.
AI Isn’t Math: Addison Snell’s insights from AI Infra Summit and the SNIA Developer Conference (SDC)
Over the past few weeks, the Intersect360 Research team has been busy attending some key AI and HPC conferences. Addison Snell, Intersect360 Research CEO recently attended the AI Infra Summit 2025 (https://ai-infra-summit.com/events/ai-infra-summit) and the SNIA Developer Conference (SDC).
The Trillion Parameter Consortium 25 (TPC25) conference, held July 28–31, 2025, in San Jose, California, marked a pivotal moment in the convergence of AI, high-performance computing (HPC), and science.
ISC High Performance 2025 marked a milestone in the evolution of HPC. With 3,585 attendees and 195 exhibitors from 54 countries, it was the largest ISC in the conference’s 40-year history. The theme, “Connecting the Dots,” reflected not only the convergence of HPC, AI, and quantum, but also the broader reorientation of priorities across the ecosystem.
As Chair of the HPC-AI Leadership Organization (HALO) APAC Advisory Committee, and CEO of Pawsey Supercomputing Research Centre in Australia, it was a privilege to contribute to several sessions spanning industry strategy, international collaboration, and community development at this year’s 40th anniversary edition of ISC; one of the world’s leading HPC and AI conferences.
For two decades, HiPEAC has played a central role in shaping Europe’s computing ecosystem. But this year’s 20th edition in Barcelona was more than a celebration—it was a reflection point for where HPC and AI are headed next.

While the event leaned more commercial than academic, it wasn’t superficial.
One year ago, we publicly launched the HPC-AI Leadership Organization (HALO) at ISC 2024. A lot had already gone into it. We had prominent chairs, a functioning Advisory Committee, internal staff, and a publicly facing website. We were up and running.
